A first solo at SOSA

Congratulations to Mike Kinsner, who did his first solo flight at SOSA Gliding Club on Sunday, June 29th. Mike joined the club just a few weeks ago after finding us on the web, and has dedicated the required time to learning. In this photo Mike, left, is about to fly with SOSA CFI John Brennan, right.

SOSA at Westfield Heritage Centre, Rockton

Sunday, May 15th, SOSA member Joe Laposnyk graciously volunteered to rig his Jantar sailplane for display at Westfield Heritage Centre on highway 52, just east of the airfield, for their Father's Day "Steam and Machine" show.

Shown here is a young gentleman in Joe's ship. He's not quite ready for solo yet, but look for him on the student list around 2018 or so.

Initiatives such as these are important for SOSA and soaring on several levels. Our sport is obscure, and events such as this brings us closer to our neighbours, the local community and the many visitors to Westfield (1049 Kirkwall Road, Rockton / westfieldheritage.ca)
